Many people have asked me to keep score of my prediction contests, meaning how each reader has won. Starting right now for all of 2013, your wins will be tallied and kept track of. You will earn points for prediction contest wins, ties, the best/funniest comment of the week, and finally the purchasing of MMABADASS shirts in my store. At the end of the year a winner will be announced based of the points earned throughout the year, and if there is a tie, we will have quiz style tie breaker. The winner will receive a 55 inch long 8 1/2 pound MMABADASS Championship belt.
If you win a prediction contest outright, meaning there was NOT a tie, you will receive 3 points.
If you win a prediction contest and there IS a tie, each person who tied will receive 2 points, and whomever wins the tie breaker for that prediction contest will receive an additional point.
Each week the best or funniest comment, depending on that week’s content, will receive 1 point.
If you purchase an MMABADASS.COM T-shirt, you will receive 5 points.
I believe the winner will have earned the majority of their points from commenting and purchasing T-shirts…So you CAN win this contest even if you do NOT win a prediction contest all year. You can jump in the contest at ANY TIME and STILL WIN. A few funny comments, buy a T-shirt, and you’ll be right in the mix.
As the contest goes along we may or may not add more gear and or autographs to go along with the belt. The belt is going to be customized for the site, it will not be a generic belt, it will say MMABADASS.COM on it and you will be crowned THE INTERNET MMA BADASS.
To my knowledge, MMABADASS.COM is the ONLY site to give away a prize for every UFC and StrikeForce (sadly no longer) event each year, and MMABADASS.COM is CERTAINLY the ONLY site to tally up the scores from said contests and give away a championship belt to the winner. I am doing this because I love you guys, most of you know I started the site when I became injured and my mobility has become difficult. Starting the site has been an awesome experience, and I’ve been able to work with a lot of great people and have met MMA champions, BJJ champions, K1 WGP champs and amazing coaches…I’ve received more free gear than I can wear, and I can proudly say that HUNDREDS of Thousands of people have visited MMABADASS.COM. I try to give as much back as possible, because all of the great things I’ve been able to do the last two years is all due to you guys and you’re loyalty to the site. Ok, so for this contest I defer to, believe it or not, my mother…Who IS a fan of MMA & has watched me train for yrs when I lived in NJ and in my opinion is more educated in the sport than some ppl I see on twitter…Who just happens to be out in Vegas visiting me and watched the card with us. The reason I deferred to her is because all 3 people who were in the tie I feel I have somewhat of a relationship with. @ScreamingBullsEye is a sponsor turned friend, and BOTH @GhostSearch (Steve W) and @7RickParker7 are both loyal readers for years. So I read her the responses without telling her who said what or how I knew each of you. She chose the response from @ScreamingBullsEye because she is agreement about the hair, and said after hearing the responses told me that she thought noticed Gilbert Melendez trying to time Benson Henderson’s “hair adjustments”. I always went with the first response when I deferred to my GF, so I’m going to do the same here.
